Woo boring weekend!

luna.png

OK, this is actually a little bit embarassing. The highlight of my weekend was seeing teh new Harry Potter movie: The Half-Blood Prince. Oh, and it gets worse - I saw it with my mum. Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame!

On the plus side, I thought the movie was quite good. The acting has improved out of sight, the adaptation wasn’t terrible and some bits were actually quite funny. Still, I have some questions:

a) Was I the only person who laughed when Ron said “The sorting hat came out and told us all to be brave and strong in these difficult times…But that’s easy for it to say..I mean, it’s a hat innit?” (The joke is even funnier because the sorting hat does get whacked, in HP & TDH.)

b) At the end, how can Harry not see that Snape is playing the Death Eaters? Think about what just happened, you tool!

c) Am I the only person who thinks that Luna Lovegood is the best character in the whole series? I hope she actually gets to do things in the HP & TDH movies.

  1. Hey, I saw it this weekend too. Not with my mother though.

    A) I don’t think I stopped laughing at Ron all movie.
    B) Harry’s mind isn’t devious enough. He has - and I quote Snape - no subtlety and no distinction.
    C) Luna is hilarious and well cast.

  3. There are worst things than seeing Harry Potter with your Mum. If it wasn’t for a lack of session times I would have seen Angels and Demons with my Mum when she was last in town. I think J.K Rowling related viewing is probably less lame than Dan Brown related viewing. Sadly I still want to see both of those movies!!!!!!

  4. Shelley - good Snape quote. Love teh Rickman.

Person putting spam on my site - I didn’t say the movie was boring. I said the weekend was boring. k?

E - Go and see HBP. Check out Hermione’s cleavage. Wear dark glasses and a trench coat when seeing Dan Brown.

  5. We were rather disappointed with Rickman. His hair is not supposed to be so non-greasy.

  6. In other movie news, I saw The Watchmen last night. I liked it save for the end. What a load of wank. “Oooo, I’m an angsty superhero and I believe the world can have peace if I use clever clever trickery!” Also, why the hell did Jupiter cry “Nooooo!” when she realised The Comedian was her father? A) Duh! B) Yeah he was a dick but he was hardly devastating cry worthy. I would have preferred a ” Well there you go” or “how fucking stupid is my mother!!” as a response.

P:S= is it wrong to think that Billy Crudup is sexier in blue CG than in real life?

  7. Hell no. Blue is the new black.

As for the ending, I thought it was great. Everyone shows up half an hour too late to do anything, then the bad guy turns out to be a good guy. It’s the exact opposite of what you’re expecting.

  8. I agree the twist was kind of cool in a way but did it have to get all self righteous? “Were saving humanity man!”. Ummm. No. Not really. Rorschach should have kicked all of their asses instead of getting blown to smithereens by Dr Manhattan. In my humble opinion.

  9. Ah, but Rorschach is the biggest nutjob of the lot! If he’d overpowered them, the world might have ended. And it may yet, given that his journal is still out there.

PS: How funny is that line “the city screams at me like an abbatoir full of retarded children.” Crazy or not, I can see why people like him.

  10. That was pretty cool. He’s like the epitome of hope for nerds everywhere. He’s short, he’s slim and without his mask he looks like a complete loser but if you cross him……pow! He had pretty big guns for an angry nerd too.
