This Space for Rent (and an invitiation to go out).
I’m setting up a site on my server using textpattern, which is a flash new bit of blog software. The back end works well, but it’s not so much better than wordpress that I can be bothered swapping over to it. So if anyone wants to set up a new site / work on a collaborative blog / etc., just comment or email me with ideas.
Not that I won’t change my mind about it tomorrow.
//So, like, it was a boring day. I read a book. If anyone feels like coming to the Rosemount for New Year’s Eve to see Little Birdy, Snowman and some other bands, I’ll be there. I think it’s twenty bucks on the door.//

It was anything but boring here. If you didn’t know already we had a huge earthquake in Sumatra and now the death toll and devastation in Sri Lanka is immense due to tidal waves and tsunamis created by the quake.
I am ok but it’s a national disaster here. 31st night celebrations have been cancelled. Appeals for aid have gone out everywhere. It’s the biggest earthquake in 40 years - 8.9.
The mood here is one of mourning. We have lost 3000+ people and it is still rising. We haven’t even begun to count the numbers of tourists that were swept away or crushed under the waves and debris. A million people have been displaced. Oxfam and Red Cross are asking for donations.
