[Meme] Five things I miss about my childhood:

(From BourbonBird. Why? Because the X-Files is on soon and it’s too late to think. Who can resist a meme anyway?)

OK. Five things is going to be tricky, but I think if I get really specific I might be able to do it.

1) Never having been kissed. Having someone’s hand on your knee for the first time, or undressing a girl for the first time are some of the most fun things you ever get to do. I should have paid more attention.

2) No cooking. Or ironing for that matter. Not that I can really do either now, it’s just that I have to try.

3) I used to be able to get around without shaving. Man, this is pretty superficial crap but I just hate shaving. It’s a complete waste of time.

4) Lego. I don’t know why my life right now is incompatible with lego, but it seems to be and that’s pretty sad. I used to make moon bases with pneumatic landing pads and all sorts of stuff.

5) School dances. Dances are another thing I should have been more interested in, but hey, what can you do? Part of being a kid is not knowing what stuff you’re going to miss. I would like there to be school dances now of course, but it’s just not that kind of school.

  1. Kisses blur your sensibilities. And my first dance ‘pash’ was with a guy whose name was BANG. That’s right, I suck at life.

I adore and agree with your five points. Being a kid rocked.

  3. I know. I know. Christ, it was like smearing my face on a meaty vagina that was dropped in an oil slick, too.

We all have our skeletons, Mark. Don’t judge me, I was young and incredibly stupid.

  4. I miss being able to do cool stuff with my grandparents.

    I miss my doggy.

I miss the time when I had no interest in girls whatsoever.

I miss the time before I started school, before I was judged and graded on my “performance”. For me my childhood ended when I stated school because I was no longer free to be myself but I had to conform to the class standards. The holidays were the best part.

  5. I miss when 6 weeks of summer holidays felt like 6 months.

I miss elastics, skipping, backyard cricket and British Bulldogs.

I miss being able to eat junk food without putting on weight. Or even thinking about putting on weight.

    I miss not menstruating.

  8. Shavings not so bad with an electric razor, sure, its not so close, but at least I don’t slash myself by mistake when I’m half asleep in the mornings.

I can’t possibly comment on the other, all I can do is put on a dress, makeup and a wig and pretend and we all know what drag that is. :-)

Perhapes I could donate a pint of blood every month?

  9. Agree with you about shaving. Even though I only shave 2 or 3 times a week, it’s still too much IMHO. Perth was fun, BTW. Much fun and might have fallen in love…
