Yep, the first people I know from high school to get married and now the first to pop out a kid. Can’t believe they’re only 22&23.

Old friends from high school with children are meant to engender contempt and pity in the unmarried aren’t they? After all, it’s fashionable to look down on those who choose responsibility and committment over a life of meaningless careerism. In fact I’m completely jealous. I know Tomas and Eleesha are going to love being parents and I bet they’ll be really good at it too. We should all be so lucky.

Preston’s got a great future ahead of him. He just better like cheese on toast.

  1. Ah, congratulations and good luck to them!

While I sometimes get a bit green-eyed thinking about the choices my old friends have made and the seemingly carefree lifestyles they’re living, I can’t think of anything else I’d rather be other than a mother.

Then again, it’s not for everyone. Choices, huh?

  2. I hope they respect your choices as much as you do theirs. I frequently find that this isn’t the case. But then, it’s always different for women [that sounds terrible, but I’m kinda sick of being told I should be all nurturing and panting for children because of my gender - I can barely look after myself and have no desire to look after so much as a kitten at the moment].

Doesn’t your profile say that your b’day is in October, young Mark..? Here’s a hint, it’s October now.

  3. Thanks Mark, I’ll print this and stick it on his wall. He’ll dig it. He digs everything. He’s so chilled out I keep expecting to find a used conepiece under his blanky. I’ve gone all gooey and have discovered that, as opposed to my expectations, I fully dig this baby action. Didn’t think that would happen. Other people’s childeren are so boring… :)

On a totally unrelated topic, I’m listening to “The Essential Michael Jackson” right now. There was a picture of the album cover next to the word “Misnomer” in the dictionary so I thought I’d go buy it. Turns out the definition holds true. Vomit. Listening to it all in a row is giving me the shits. I want to hunt him down and kill him. Oh great, I’m up to “Earth Song”. Heeeeeeeeeeeeelllllp.

    Respect to your choices.

    Sunshine,

    Tom

  5. Go James! Scorpios are so much fun.
He might be a boring Libran - there’s still time…

  8. The 23rd? lol That’s my sister’s birthday. She too is a poor little Libran rose amongst a crowd of Scorpion thorns [read: the rest of the family].

    Happy Birthday, Mark.

  9. October 23 is Scorpio/Libran cusp. The boring Libran aspects are offset by the more interesting Scorpion aspects.

  10. James, please don’t mention any of this to my sister She’s spent thirty years pretending not to be a Scorpio. Who does that?

  11. NPB - “She’s spent thirty years pretending not to be a Scorpio. Who does that?”

Scorpios … precisely ! A very Scorpio thing to do, if you think about it …
