Pix: old Australian Workers Union building, Pitt St.

Maybe this building is a good metaphor for industrial relations today, but I kinda just think it’s neat.

The windows are open. You could probably climb in there if you wanted to.

On the ground it’s all boarded up - you walk under it without noticing it’s there.

Labor view: The Australian Worker’s Union is an institution you just don’t flush in a second of rushing through all sorts of legislations while the public are drunk.
Liberal view: It’s clear that the Unions and Australian Worker’s need to be separated.

Yeah, that pretty much sums it up. At least we now have a reason to vote for Kim Beazley, as opposed to a reason not to vote for the other guy.

Wait, what? Do we? Wanna share it?

Does any one know why we couldn’t get a party like the Greens to run the government. Like, if of all the sane people voted Green, and they then held all the seats in majority, would that disrupt the precious two-party system? In other words, can there really only be a choice between the two Ls?

I’m not sure that the Greens even run for enough seats to win government.

Nails - because he’ll roll back the legislation.
Switch - I personally concentrate on questions like how to get out of washing the dishes. Perhaps you’re problem is that 99% of sane people don’t want to vote Green?

I didn’t think you posted about politics… what happened?

I want to live there.

Ah Mark, don’t be so fucking naive.

Bezley will only rollback if he remembers his middle name come election time.
And if not the Greens, some other party not of Labor or the Coalition. What if the Dems and the Greens were to join forces (or any other combination) and become the new Coalition? Would that even be permissible?

Permissable but just not probable. Oh the ingrained conservatism of the Australian people! There aren’t any laws against it [that’d make for an interesting interpretation of democracy - oh no wait, that’s what we’re all for now…right..] - it just isn’t really part of our political landscape. It’s also highly unlikely that we could end up with coalition of Labor and minor parties [specifically plural] to make up numbers. Pity really.

I know nothing about politics, however I do know this building is great. I’m with Clare, I want to live there.

James - it’s a picture of a building. That’s fine enough for me.
Clare - I would have thought so (Tash less so, but that’s cool with me). Youse’d have to climb up a drainpipe everyday but.
Nails - WTF? That’s very rude.

Which bit was rude? I kinda thought it all was :P
Nice pic, btw…thought you didn’t wander the streets with a camera?
