Thievery!

Last night we watched Molly Ringwald in Sixteen Candles and then Tom and I drove around Fremantle stealing milk crates. It was excellent because we’re the sort of guys who never, ever do anything wrong and we were feeling a bit like gangsters just because we nicked these stupid crates and stuffed them into Tom’s Honda and drove off really fast. I think he is building a desk out of them. Sixteen Candles was stupid but.

  1. Save a few for me. My computer monitor is on the floor and my back thinks I’m evil so it’s fighting me.

  2. I’ve always wanted someone to take me to a deserted building while they and their mates spray graf around the place and I can feel like a rebel by association.

I never do anything wrong either. Which is fine, but I would like to break into abandoned buildings and explore.

    Who’s with me?!?!?! :D

  3. Sixteen Candles really is a lame movie. I put it down to the fact that it was made in the 80s.

I remember reading somewhere that it is illegal to own milk crates. DELINQUENTS.

  4. When I was a kid a friend and I would explore the houses that were being built in his neighborhood. We’d climb down into the basements and stuff. Even though we were expressly forbidden to go anywhere near the construction sites. Definitely delinquent.
Nearly harmless delinquency, isn’t that one of the best thrills?

  5. But…”16 candles” is such an 80’s classic! Along with “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off”, “Mannequin”, and the untouchable, “The Breakfast Club”, these movies permeate with days where i used to skip classes in primary school, and had nothing else to do but stuff my face with candies, sugar powder, whippets, and stay all day in front of the telly. Ah, yes, those were *my delinquency days…

Milk crates, eh? Now THAT’s like, totally bad, man…

  6. MHE - yeah, ergonomics is a biatch. Keep and eye out and you’ll see plenty of crates. Service stations and small supermarkets are the best.

HI SERRIN! - yeah, I hear there are a few places in Perth you can do that. The Indymedia crew might have some info. There’s also this place that I know about, but I’m not sure if you can still get in.

    Mish - that’s right, baby. We’re BAAAAAAAAAAD.

Winter - yep, well put too. I wish we had basements in Australia :(

V - I’m more on your side with 16 Candles. It’s pretty okay. Next time, I wanna watch Pretty in Pink, then Napoleon Dynamite right after. Don’t tell me that’s not a super movie combo.

  7. Pretty In Pink is cool, but Napoleon Dynamite? Over-rated much…

I’ve started setting up my studio with the crates. I feel so street. It’s really cool though, they’re like, totally modular. It’s starting to take the ideal shape. I just need another car full…

  9. Next time you go crate-thieving, you MUST wear your suit of armour. Just in case of trouble, you understand.

  10. Ahhhhh milk-crates. Whether it be for CD storage, furniture construction, or standing on to watch Mardi Gras, the milk-crate is an often underestimated important part of the modern student home.

  11. Whaaaat?!? You don’t have basements??? I can’t put my finger on why that’s so strange to me…maybe because I’ve always lived at the tail end of ‘Tornado Alley’.

  12. Lizzy - ain’t room enough in the car for me, armour and the boxes I’m afraid.

James - Tom isn’t a student any more… but he likes the aesthetic.

Winter - I don’t know why we don’t have basements, but we don’t have tornadoes either and that might be a clue. Also, a lot of our country is sand and I don’t think it’s good for making basements in or something.
