Descend Here reunion show >:-)

Library - 599.jpg
Burgers of Beef during soundcheck (left to right: The cuteness of Blainie, some guy I think is Blainie’s B/F, Chad and Pete. Dee is behind the B/F guy). I only took a couple of photos last night - there’s one more on Flickr, but it’s just a blurrier version of the same thing. I think Liz has some better ones, but she hasn’t put them up yet.

So the show was pretty good. Pretty damn good actually. Lots of nice people showed up and we played without making too many mistakes. Tomas was good at his stuff and kept people interested even during the slow songs - he even smashed a computer keyboard in his usual Hendrix-smashing-a-guitar kinda way, which was a bit “aww, old times!” for me. Oh, and I think I did some okay rock moves as well.

The support band Burgers of Beef rocked as usual, despite the average sound system. Wade apparently liked them a lot, so we think they should market themselves to Tenacious D fans. I also scored a Burgers of Beef badge with a cartoon Blainie on it from their merch collection, so now I can wear the cuteness of Blainie whenever I want.

The best bit of the night, though, was just hanging out with so many cool people - plenty of friends, plus a bunch of people we know from the “Perth joke bands c. 2000-2004″ milieu, and the internet people like Liz and Sky. It was some awesome fun. Like I said before, it was better than most of the shows we played when we were a real band. Ah!

    1. Where did that black dot come from…?

    2. I’m sure your show was tops and everything but I have a totally unrelated question. As a former inhabitant of Enmorial regions so you ever miss the cloudy days when it sounds like the planes are going to crash into your building or maybe the one next door..?

    3. My place was never that bad for plane noise. I think it came from being a little too far to the east being on the bottom floor with one small window. Now that you mention it though, it was crap when the planes were loud.

    4. Are you serious about the black dot or are you testing the listless out there?

    5. One is always serious about black dots!

It’s a bit scary actually, sometimes.

    6. No, I’m serious. One line below the post there’s a random black dot. I’m using Firefox for a pentium-based Apple, and it sometimes screws things up, but this is a consistent thing. I don’t get it.

    8. Well, to help matters none, it doesn’t even show up in Opera.

    9. Nice pic. Glad to hear it went so well.

    10. Sounds like you had fun. Any more Descend Here plans?

BTW - Is the guy in the checked shirt picking the guitarist’s nose?

    11. Maybe that’s who flicked that black spot on the end of the post.

    12. Nails & Ethan - Looking at the code, I realised that for some reason there’s a list item tag there with no content that’s causing that dot to appear. It’s a dot point with no words beside it, in other words. I don’t know how it came to be there though…

Ross - Nah, no more plans. The dude was holding the mic while the venue staff tried to find another mic stand.

    15. I reiterate the earlier found quirk: “or are you testing the listless out there?”

    16. I’ll drop my SPAM filter settings.
