Have taken a strong dislike to the word ‘very.’ Delete it straight after I write it. It’s such a redundant word.

  3. Very redundant. I’ve been editing E’s essays, she’s a big fan of redundant non-adjectives. Her lecturers seem to dig them though - apparently they’re “passionate”!

    Wouldn’t fly in lit, I tells ya.

  4. My favourite word is defenestration and my least favourite word is fully.

    Whenever I say fully, even when I mean it in the proper sense for which it was intended, I realise that most of the under-educated troglodytes I speak to will hear the high school version of the word, i.e.

    “It was fully, like, so totally funny it was NOT FUNNY, like fully. Seriously.”

    Tomas - it’s a short way from passionate to annoying though, isn’t it?

    Serrin - Yes, but when do you get a chance to use the word ‘defenestration’, let alone actually defenestrate anything? It’s a shame…
