I’m now going to be speaking at the Tactics of Resistance: Limitations & Possibilities conference, in addition to the conference of the Association for Political Theory. Yep. I am officially a conference whore.

I wonder if there’s free food.

It’s Che mixed with Ronald McDonald! Hilarious and meaningful!

  1. You know you’re a fully-fledged conference whore when you BYO photo ID/introduction nametag.

  2. Sounds awesome. Will you be having yourself filmed so that we can all bask in your awesomeness/laugh ourselves silly at you being serious..?

  3. The scariest thing about growing up is when people take you seriously.. believe me… seriously.

  4. Miss Q - I’m not that hardcore, but I do keep all of the old badges from conferences I’ve been to as mementos.

Shelley - Filmed? I’ll be lucky if anyone takes notes :)

James - Yeah, that’s got to be a strange feeling. Not likely to happen for a while, though.

  5. I think keeping old ones is totally fine, but when you make the effort to make your own (and I know someone who actually does this even though his own form of ID is often declined as conference ID), it starts to get a bit intense.

  6. Hence the ‘having yourself filmed’. I’m sure you’ll be super. And almost sure that someone will be writing something whilst you’re talking.

  7. That picture brings a tear to my eye. The kind of tear that native peoples make when they see a giant, stinking pile of various crumpled plastics in the forest.

Anyway, in order to play scrabble, you need to get it on facebook. If you are on facebook, then you can be my buddy, and then you can kick my arse. That is the way of scrabble.

  8. Miss Q - Yep. That is a bit weird. A bit hardcore. A bit crazy.

    Shelley - Well, I am pretty deep…

Clare - Are we looking at the same picture? I see a cheesy take on the commercialisation of counterculture. It makes me cringe more than cry. But yeah, I’ll go check out that facebook thing.

  10. Facebook has scrabble? That’s awesome!

In a completely unrelated note, Becky and I were wondering how tall you are? We were discussing it over lunch. Care to enlighten us?

  11. I was just saying that I hate when you learn someone’s real height/see them for the first time and it totally screws up you mental image of them.

    Comment by Becky — Saturday September 15 2007 @ 4:01 pm

  12. Yeah, I always have wildly inaccurate mental images of people. So, FYI, I am about 173cm. So is that about five foot eight or something in imperials? A little bit below average for a guy or, as I have learned, a little bit above average if you live in an asian neighbourhood.

  13. You’re taller than me, which makes you awesome. At 4′10″, I am far safer than the average 5′10″ Joe if someone throws an anvil into a crowd. 5ft tall? Never broke it - haha! - never will!

  14. Throwing an anvil into the crowd? What concerts do you go to?

    Comment by Mark — Sunday September 16 2007 @ 4:54 pm

  15. Good god, Mark, you’re barely taller than I am. Rinna truly is tiny though - I always feel like a fucking giant next to her.

  16. Okay, so you’re about my height. I’m a bit above the average height for girls (excluding, like, brazilian super models).

So anyway, my mental image is good.
