Woohoo! Only a few days till I head off. First to Hobart, then back to Perth for Christmas and to tutor in the summer intensive philosophy courses at Notre Dame. It doesn’t look like it will be much of a holiday, however, since I have to redraft my whole thesis and paint my mum’s new house. But there will be a little bit of holiday time. Just a little.

Incidental Things That I Am Discovering #44: you can’t do philosophy all day. After 8 hours, your brain starts to seize up and you begin to forget things. You start writing illegible and angry comments in your notebook and decide that you don’t actually need to read the books on your desk because you can “guess” what they say. If you go on after this point, you will probably die or something.

  1. Wheeeeeeeee! Viva la Markinperth (sorry, it sounds better if all run together like a place name in a latino accent).

  3. Hobart? Drop in ‘n’ say g’day! The Corporation has a reasonable coffee supply.

  4. Can you put me on air so that I can tell everyone about my extreme right-wing political views? :)

  5. 8 hours huh? You’re pretty hardcore! When I took philosophy I started to feel crazy after about two hours.

Btw, did you know that there’s a sequel to catch-22? I was looking on amazon the other day, and saw it there. Not sure if I’ll read it, everyone that rated it said it was crap.

  6. I knew there were other books by Joseph Heller, and I knew they weren’t supposed to be very good, but I didn’t know there was a sequel. Let me know if you read it.
