So after a few days back in Perth I’m thinking of changing my major to ‘Playstation.’ Maybe completing the look with a pair of tracky dacks. I could even use bong water for eau de cologne.
Actually it’s not all bad. I saw the house my mum is building in York and earned some serious brownie points, and hung out with some friends on the weekend. People sometimes ask me whether I come home after spending so much time in Sydney and find that my friends aren’t around any more but I guess I have some pretty boring friends because they’re basically all there doing the same things they normally do.
Another thing people sometimes say to me is, like, I tell them that I study philosophy, which is kind of my job, and then they say “ah, the art of bullshit!” or something like that. And I don’t think that’s fair. I work pretty hard. Obviously not right at the moment, but sometimes. And I mean, you don’t tell a dentist that they are a professional torturer, do you? Not if you can put yourself in their shoes. In fact, as you can no doubt guess, I secretly like it when people say stuff like that because then I can be offended and quite self-righteous. I don’t know why I bring it up. That didn’t happen to me on the weekend. It just kinda bugs me is all.

Try changing your ‘major’ to criminology or forensics if you want to get girls. Call this kind of lying ‘research’ to see if i’m right.

dude, people have even less respect for philosophy here; when i got my BA in it i was awash in psuedo-clever remarks such as “at least you’ll understand why you are unemployed, har har har” but hey, at least you didn’t have to put yourself into debt to hear those jokes like here in the states :)

Mish - Huh? My major *is* forensic science. Didn’t I tell you about it in exhaustive detail yet?
Eddie - Yeah, I have a metric tonne of respect for anyone who would do an arts degree in that system. Mind you, I am in debt from my degree, but it’s Mega-Fun Debt that only kicks in when you earn too much income to worry about paying it.

You could major in playstation with an area of emphasis in guitar hero. LoL.
I have to admit, I thought the same thing about philosophy myself until I took a history of ethics class in college. And I have to say, that shit is pretty challenging! You iz smart for realz yo.
