……………………..!

Dot Points!

  • Apple Mail fooled me into thinking it had sent the email for my removalist quote, and then denied all knowledge of me ever having written it. Who ever heard of such a thing? Now my whole operation is running late.
  • Going to see Hot Fuzz tonight. Shaun of the Dead was a bit of a let-down for me, so I hope this one is better.
  • I’ve been slacking off like a champion slackerofferer at my uni work. Guilt trip imminent.
  • Er, that’s it. Staying at my mum’s place sucks. She’s been eating heaps of steak since the CSIRO diet came out, and there’s just not enough fat and salt in it to keep me going. Might duck over to Red Rooter for tea.

Sydney meet?

I’ve been a bit busy moving house to check up on the blog world lately, but trust me - I still love you desperately. Yes, you. Actually though, I’m also in love with Talulah Riley from last night’s episode of Miss Marple. She makes me feel all funny inside. Miss Marple is AWESOME, btw.

So it seems that a meetup has been decreed in Sydney. If I can have a couple of weeks to get my shit together I’ll be there, and hopefully so will you. I’d really enjoy it if you came along. Glen and I were thinking Kelly’s in Newtown, and I think Shelley liked the idea of a Monday, but we’re pretty flexible and nobody has made any big plans yet. Let me know what you think.

Thursday March 22 2007

So it’s set. I’m flyin’ to Sydney on Sunday the 8th.

goodbye bike rides by the river
goodbye cheap apartment
goodbye drinkin’ buddies

hello Turkish food
hello university broadband
hello getting quite a lot of work done

PS - Bash is still awesome:

[PhoenixBourne] You know date rape drugs?
[linforcer] Sure
[PhoenixBourne] Right, rhyphonol is one of these. It knocks you asleep after an hour or two.
[PhoenixBourne] I should also mention, a side affect of rhyphonol is amnesia of events whilst under influence of the drug.
[PhoenixBourne] Now, a friend of mine had this idea:
1) Prepare ingredients
2) Take rhyphonol
3) Bake cake
4) Fall asleep
5) ??????
6) Wake up
7) CAKE?! CAKE! Where did this come from?!
[linforcer] SURPRISE CAKE!!!!!!

diving / planning Sydney Adventure No. III

Some diving photos from the weekend are on Flickr. We took the boat out to Rottnest Island dived on (I think) Crystal Palace and the the wreck of the Lady Elizabeth. The first dive was a bit crap - we were supposed to find a cave in a big rock wall, but we must have missed it. The second was great though, with bright, clear water and and lots of neat caves to bang your head in. The wreck was just a jumble of weird shapes covered in seaweed, but it was still pretty interesting. Oh, and the day was brilliant. Warm but not hot, with very little wind or swell.

I’m packing up my stuff now, to move out and head to Sydney. I’m enjoying it. Specifically, I’m enjoying: a) throwing a lot of crap out b) spending the day moving and sorting instead of reading and typing like I usually do c) getting on the road again - moving to a new place by yourself can be a hassle, but it’s still kinda fun. So, while I’m not looking forward to trusting removalists with my stuff or having to sleep on a bunk at a backpackers (maybe I should splash out and get a double? am I worth it?) I am looking forward to the trip. Plus the hanging out with James and Glen, and maybe even partying with Misha. Yeah. I’m so into it now I might even buy a plane ticket.

I wonder if any of those guys can dive?

Bitterness, spite and desolation.

I got a Scrabble set but no one wants to play with me atm. And it’s no fun on your own - especially when you’re crap at it like I am. Maybe I will draw up some grid paper and try to play Scrabbleship instead. No wait, then you’d really need another person. Ah well, at least I have the good ole internet to keep me company.

Stupid dialup.

Sunday March 11 2007

I won at Scattergories.

Haha!

That is all.

Tuesday March 6 2007

My new short story, which is called ‘GIVE THEM DIGNITY’, is here. It’s basically a fable where the story may or may not contradict the moral at the end - I’ll let you decide. (Oh and the title is a reference to Slaughterhouse Five, but you don’t need to get that.)

Monday March 5 2007

pfft. boring.

Today I rearranged the middle part of my thesis. It’s a total chaos now, but the notes are there on how to put it all together. Oh so many, many notes. It’s like building IKEA furniture from really vague diagrams with half the parts not having been invented yet.

This afternoon I will forget about that and type out a short story I have written and send it to Voiceworks. They story is pretty urban and ‘real’ so they might like it. It’s about two girls who are best friends but are always trying to stab each other in the back.

I saw this bit of culture jamming from the bus.

Library - 616.jpg
It’s one of the simplest ones I’ve seen - just 2 letters added, and it has managed to stay up for a few weeks now. Well done somebody!
